Mr. John Deng is one of the founders of the China Social Entrepreneur Foundation, and is the founder, Chairman and CEO of the Vimicro Corporation. He is the first person to obtain a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, a Masters in physics, and a Masters in economics all within five years from the University of California at Berkeley.  He personally led the development of the “Xingguang” multimedia processor, which in 2005 had a global market share of almost 70% of all computer image input microprocessors, and which is used extensively by reputable companies such as Samsung, Hewlett-Packard, and Sony.  In November 2005, his company was successfully listed on the NASDAQ.  Mr. Deng has won many awards including the "National First Class Award for Science and Technology," "National Labor Model," and "10 Outstanding Young Chinese." He was selected as one of CCTV’s  economic stars for 2005, and received their Person of the Year award.
