YouChange Post-disaster Non-governmental Resources Coordination Platform Launched as Focus shift to Reconstruction

On April 16, Director Wang Xiang of Department of Non-governmental Cooperation, and volunteers Wang Xiaoyan and Drolma launched YouChange Post-disaster Non-governmental Resources Coordination Platform in Xining, the provincial capital of Qinghai. Social organizations like Mountain & Water Institute and Qinghai Association of Social Workers joined the platform. On April 19, YouChange called a telephone meeting to work out the relief plan at the next stage as the emergency period came to an end. It was decided to set up YouChange Non-governmental Disaster Response Support Center as well as long-term non-governmental disaster preparation and relief mechanisms. 

At the next stage, YouChange will shift its focus to reconstruction of local communities. Based on the Resources Coordination Platform, YouChange will carry out an all-around initiative including rehabilitation of basic services to transitional settlement communities and long-term community reconstruction. On top of basic livelihood, YouChange will pay particular attention to local folk customs and culture as well as the special needs of the elderly, children, women, people with disabilities in the reconstruction process.
